Woodlands Ward is a 16 bedded general paediatric ward which takes children ranging from 0-16 years of age. We see all children of any speciality such as surgery, ophthalmology, ear nose and throat etc. As the only acute paediatric unit within the Harrogate District Hospital, we want to make sure we are providing child friendly, individualised care. Recently most of our fundraised money has supported the completed artwork in the main bay areas within Woodlands Ward and within some of the side rooms. We would relish the opportunity to continue this artwork in our remaining side rooms, but do not currently have the funds to do this. The artwork creates a warmer, more inviting area for children to visit, hopefully alleviating some of their anxiety. The feedback received from the environmental changes to Woodlands Ward over the past few years has been palpable, families who visited prior to the artwork have commented on how much more relaxed their children were since the changes have been made. We are looking to continue this fundraising and make the ward a home away from home.
Harrogate Ladies’ College Charity of the Year. Every year we choose a local charity to support, and for 2023-2024, our school community voted for Active Against Cancer (AAC)!
Active Against Cancer helps many people being treated for and living with cancer. It focuses on the importance of both physical and mental health. It’s a fantastic cause, close to our hearts, which has been invaluable in helping David (Sara’s dad) through his cancer journey.
Over the next 8 months I am in isolation for 8 weeks during which I am going to walk the Pennine Way virtually in my garden, 268miles (431KM), as well as visit spots along the way with friends and family when not isolating. During the past 12 months and in preparation for the next treatment I have been supported by Active Against Cancer. Active Against Cancer aim to help those living and being treated for cancer maintain and achieve a level of fitness to get them through the ordeals of treatment and surgery as well as providing mental and wellbeing support. Without them I would not have been able to deal with the treatments I have received and would not be able to continue to move forward, they have been a key part in keeping me alive and positive. I do hope you will sponsor me to do this and thank you in advance for your generosity.
I am taking part in the Great North Run on Sunday 8 September 2024 with the aim to beat my 2.02 time from 2021 and raise some money to help support our NHS heroes, service users and their families. Due to injury I have unfortunately had to defer my place from 2023. Every penny you can support me with can help make an incredible difference for those accessing and delivering services to the local population of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. Please support me where you can I am truly grateful on behalf of this incredible charity 🧡 A huge thank you to whose who have supported me in my endeavour to complete this half marathon in 2023. I will keep you updated with my training schedule in readiness for 2024!
