AAC helps to support patients with the physical and mental battle that comes with a cancer diagnosis. It puts exercise at the core of cancer care through free specialised exercise programmes. It starts with an assessment and then a pre treatment exercise program followed by a period of six months post treatment group exercise sessions to aid recovery. Progress is regularly monitored. The classes are delivered by highly skilled, qualified, knowledgeable and friendly trainers. In addition to the exercise sessions there is the opportunity to meet with others in a similar position which helps realisation that people are not alone on their cancer journey.

Club member David Yeomans, when proposing HHCC to support AAC for Wetherby Runners AC Charity of 2025, outlined the outstanding positive effect that the AAC Service had on him. He said that they had supported him completely from a position of absolute despair on receiving the news of his cancer diagnosis through to being so much fitter and now looking forward with enthusiasm to the future. The exercise classes had transferred him from being very insular to becoming part of a group of new friends brought together by AAC who were full of laughter and smiles and always there to support each other when needed. AAC had really impacted on his recovery so far.
