On Tuesday 12 August 2025, I will be running the Cumbria Way in one day, in aid of Active Against Cancer (AAC). This will be the hardest challenge I’ve ever taken on, covering 118 km, 2775 m total ascent and 2842 m descent in less than 24 hours.

Working as a personal trainer, I am a neighbour to AAC at the Harrogate Squash and Fitness Centre. Every day, I see the incredible, life-changing service they provide for anyone with a recent diagnosis of cancer or who is receiving cancer treatment in the Harrogate area. AAC’s multidisciplinary team ensures the community receive both physical and mental benefits from movement classes. As a training pre-reg MSc Physiotherapist, I am incredibly passionate about using exercise to make challenging times that bit more manageable.

I am taking on this challenge to support AAC’s amazing service, and in memory of my Godmother, who recently passed from cancer.

I’ve been training hard, running 60 km a week on average around Nidderdale, including the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Before this, I have never taken running as a regular hobby, nor read a map or used running poles! It’s been an awesome experience so far, with many sore toes.

I am welcoming donations of any size, all in aid of AAC. Thank you for your support!

Jack
