It has been just over two years since I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and since then I have undergone various treatments to help manage the condition including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiotherapy. These have all helped to manage the cancer so far.

This treatment and exceptional care has been carried out by excellent staff, such as those in the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre at Harrogate District Hospital.  Throughout this period, I have also had tremendous support from Active Against Cancer (AAC) who have helped me with my fitness level and with the recovery after each treatment and beyond.

This understanding and ability to provide the best training has given me a boost following each class I have attended and has provided me with the opportunity to meet many other people with cancer and to share the experiences as well as the highs and lows as one goes through the whole experience.

I am sure some of you know I am a keen road cyclist and I therefore aim to undertake the Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 challenge (https://www.tourde4.com/) on Sunday 7 September 2025 and cycle 56 miles in aid of AAC through Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity. I hope you are able to support my fundraising towards enhancing this vital service.
