Our Teams within Harrogate District Hospitals and Community provide care and support to patients approaching end of life, and those important to them in both the hospital and community setting (e.g at home, care home) across the Harrogate and Rural locality. They are supported, when needed, by our Specialist Palliative Care Team. We strive to provide the best quality end of life care wherever the patient is being cared for.

Environment:
- Enhance facilities on wards to ensure quiet spaces for patients and their families
- Enhance bereavement facilities
- Children’s Bereavement books and ‘cuddle memory toys’
- Additional education for staff caring for these patients and families.
Relatives Comfort Bags: (Provided for relatives staying with their loved ones in Hospital at end of life)
- Comfort bags include: toiletries, pillows, blanket, notebook and pen.
Equipment:
- Additional recliner bed chairs for relatives staying in hospital setting with their loved ones at end of life
- Keepsakes such as handprint memory equipment and boxes for locks of hair
- Hand held fans for patients
- Audio Monitors for families.
